The islands of Istanbul never inhaled the metropolis. In spite of the fact that

they are close to the land physically, there is a distance between the concepts like chaos and density mentally. It is not a rupture occured, but a protection existed for a long time. Even the name ‘Prince Islands’ is associated with luxury, this title refers to the exiled statesman of Byzantium. For us, they are

only islands, sometimes it is enough to say only island. Not having a new connection beside the water line, not sharing any memory or an excitement, contrarily, destruction of the existing memories during the excambium, left the

islands without a title.

The project has an intention of tracing these memories and reminding them to

the metropolis. It presents its streets to the metropolis and share the story of


These memories surely include a story beyond phaetons and fake nostalgia. There need to be created an environment of freedom that cohabitance culture could exist. To create memories as a school and to ensure the presentation of memory-

story-myth narrations are needed. The myth that princes were slaughtering

people on the islands in Roman period or the story that the casino building turns into poorhouse for children by greek community are very important to think architecturally. Istanbul is forced to live without its history despite the fact that it was governed by Byzantium for over 1000 years. Europe behaved Istanbul as a part of East culture instead of Roman Empire. It is thought that Istanbul was not merit for Roman title and the name Byzantium was given. We, as the children of this land, excluded Byzantium because of the different religion it has belonged to. Byzantium was wide off the mark with consensus from historical writings. A mental island was created. The project in Heybeliada mentions to look after

the mental island. To present an area of activity for learning Byzantium culture,

and to connect the community and the land are the main purposes of the
